Motorola’s green phone made from recycled plastic bottles has been honoured at a recent industry event.

The CTIA Wireless exhibition in Las Vegas was the opportunity for a number of companies to show off their latest innovations and a number of awards were given to the manufacturer.

Motorola‘s W233 Renew, which is also made to strict carbon offsetting rules, was the selected recipient of the E-Tech: Green Consumer Hardware award for the MOTO W233 Renew.

On its launch in January this year, corporate vice-president of global marketing at Motorola Mobile Devices Jeremy Dale said the idea was to draw attention to the importance of conserving natural resources.

"From the product’s design, to the packaging, to our partnership with Carbonfund.org, we wanted to ensure that this device makes the right impact with consumers and the environment," he explained.

Another category where the firm took an honour was the Best of CTIA Wireless 2009 Award for accessories – which saw the MOTOROKR S305 Wireless Stereo Headphones unveiled as the winner.

Is Motorola keeping up with its rivals rith its new phones?
