You may remember, a while back, that we ran a story about how we’ll charge our phones in the future. Well some clever fellas have come up with a way we didn’t spot, according to a story in The Guardian.
It’s a “knee brace that straps to your leg and uses the energy store din your muscles as a result of the muscles doing mechnical work, which can cleverly put power into the brace, which you can connect to a phone to charge it”.
—(No images as yet, so we’ve provided an artist’s interpretation)—Â
Ok, possibly that is the most long-winded name in history, but what it boils down to is a harness you strap round your knee. When you’re walking along, your knee continually bends and unbends, and when your foot connects with the floor, energy’s lost from round your knee joint (amongst others). So, if you put a device in the knee strap to capture that energy, you make yourself into a mobile recharging station! (And yes, I can think of a use for it: hook your phone up to it when you go jogging, using something like the ‘coming soon’ Samsung MiCoach. Good call, eh)
So, you can keep your phone charged up and ready to use, and it’s good for the environment. And you can get healthy doing it.
Automaically rules me out from ever using one, then, but I can see the usefulness of it. I’d just be far too lazy to use it…

Thats a such a really good idea, as if this comes out, I would definitely buy one for myself, as I am continually walking around all the time!
That would saves me electricity bills, and saves the environment as well.
