The Nokia N900 has been compared with the Google Nexus One handset, which was unveiled to the world this week amid loud fanfare.
Nokia Blog writer Mark Guim put the two phones head to head in terms of size and said he was "blown away" by the slender nature of the Nexus.
However, when it came to typing messages on it, constantly having to correct himself due to the lack of a real hardware keyboard was "annoying".
And although the Nexus proved quick to set up, users might still be curious to try out the Maemo operating system on the N900, despite it offering fewer apps than Android.
Finally, the browser on the Nexus received a sort of semi-thumbs-up.
"I don’t have any complaints about the web browser after some quick browsing, but I didn’t like it when websites forced me to use their mobile version," Mr Guim said.
The N900 has been welcomed by the many in the industry, so those who want to get their hands on a phone with a bit more history might find it suitable.
