Big news, this, at it’s a genuine, proper contender to the iPhone. You may have seen me mention an upcoming touchscreen mobile phone from Blackberry, known as the Thunder. Well, it turns out it’s not actually called the Thunder, anymore.
Announced late yesterday, according to the Boy Genius Report, it’s the Blackberry Storm.
Well, when I say announced, it’s been announced for America.
Not for us.
But you know what I mean, at least now we know this mobile phone’s official! So, what can we expect from the Blackberry Storm, when it hits the UK? The first and key feature is that enormous great big touchscreen, which looks as though it’s going to rival the iPhone’s in terms of sheer size. Not just that, but (in a first for mobile phones), it has what’s called a click-touchscreen, so the screen moves and clicks, to give you the sensation of using a real keyboard when you use the Blackberry Storm.
Needless to say, you also get the full internet access that you’ve come to expect from Blackberry mobile phones, as well as a full internet browser, GPS, and just to rub it in for the iPhone crowd, this beauty also has visual voicemail. It’s only been announced for Verizon in the USA, so far, but it’s a fair bet we’re going to get it as well (in fact, I’m hoping we get it before them, since that’s what happened with the Blackberry Bold 9000…)
All in all, the Blackberry Storm is going to be one to watch out for; it combines the looks and usability of the iPhone with the Blackberry features and power that everyone plus their dog seems to have fallen in love with.
Ooh, I can’t wait to get my grubby paws on one!
