The early work of the man behind the Watchmen graphic novel is to be made available to Apple iPhone 3G users.

Comic book fans will no doubt know the name of Alan Moore from his celebrated works, which also include V For Vendetta and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

However, iPhone users can now download Future Shocks – a series of short stories originally published in British sci-fi journal 2000 AD – by visiting the App Store.

Clickwheel, the company behind the launch, state iPhone and iPod Touch users that are into the art form will no doubt lap up the chance to enjoy Moore’s twisted tales while on-the-go.

Will Simons, creative director of the firm, said: "If you like comics, if you want easy and high-quality entertainment, you need to check out the Future Shocks series – you won’t be disappointed."

An animated version of the Watchmen graphic novel can also be downloaded from Apple’s iTunes store and the big screen adaptation of the story is in cinemas now.
