And there’s people telling me that mooching about Youtube will never lead to anything useful. Well, it led to this gem! Basically, American network Cricket Wireless have teamed up with Samsung to make the world’s biggest mobile phone.
As marketing stunts go, that’s a pretty cool one…
The super-sized Samsung is actually a fully functioning phone, as well, with working keypad, working screen, and working antenna. You can even make calls (hint, you need a ladder to reach the mic), and send/receive texts from it, although it should be noted that running backwards and forwards on that QWERTY keyboard is going to wear you out. All in all, you’re going to need to be pretty fit to actually use it, since I reckon you’d have to be Charles Atlas to even slide the damn thing open!
It seems that they’re going for the official Guinness world record for world’s biggest phone, and assuming everything goes through ok, they’ll pretty much cane the previous record, which was a Sony Ericsson W810i a mere 8 feet tall…
And here, for your viewing pleasure, because it’s always funny to see a man pressing keys on a phone when those keys are bigger then his arm, is the video of the world’s biggest mobile phone in action:
All in all, a pretty pointless undertaking, but really rather funny, and hey, the screen on it’s nearly as big as the Samsung Omnia HD…
Go on, I dare you to say you don’t want to have a play with the world’s biggest mobile! And be sure to subscribe now to see all the latest shenanigans from the world of mobile phones!
