On one of many excursions through this wide world of the interweb that we all love so much, I came across an award-winning design house called Alloy, known in mobile-device circles as the designers of HP Jornada pda’s. Their work is, quite simply, phenomenal, and looking on their website, they have some very cool ideas about designing mobile phones.
For starters, they seemed to have designed hem for specific people (maybe I should say specific demographics… but Alloy took it further and named the demographics!)
Take for example, their phone aimed at “Travis”, called the V-Max, featuring a FULL touchscreen interface, completely customisable screens, keys, and everything, and, most intriguingly, a full embedded speaker system, including what looks to be a sub-woofer!

Or, maybe you like things simple, and easy to use? Then may I humbly suggest the Essential, designed for “Claire”? With a simple, elegant design, and a key ring that you can use to find the phone when you use it (oh god, that’s be perfect for my mum!), this could be perfect for you!

Maybe that’s not your scene, though? Maybe you want something a bit more serious, a bit more functional, and not as flashy? Then how about the 24-7, which they say they’ve designed for “Mark” (ROCK! A phone designed for me!! Well, I can dream, can’t I…?) It combines about 4 different form factors in 1 phone, with sliding bits, a flip-open QWERTY keyboard, a storage bay for the wireless earpiece, annnnnnd a screen section that can detach to become a mini “Weekend Phone”, separate from the rest of the phone.

I swear to god, I nearly wet myself with excitement when I saw that. It’s just so CLEVER! Although, I also thought something else when I saw it: “How the hell do they fit all them bits in??”
I still don’t know how they managed to fit everything in, but by god, is it nice-looking.
Yes, I know there’s a running theme happening, where I say I want every new phone or concept that’s announced, but I can’t help it. I just want them all!
