It’s just occurred to me that I’ve not written my thoughts down about the Nokia 6600 Fold yet, so I’d best rectify that, since it’s now available to buy.
So, what do I think of it?
Well, there’s no denying, it’s certainly a looker. As mobile phones go, it’s of the sleekest and shiniest little beauties on the go at the minute. Nokia have certainly good job in making the 6600 Fold look pretty. Of course, one thing that has been pointed out to me before, and I can’t really refute it, is that it does look a bit like the Motorola U9.
Still, as Nokia have openly said themselves (when talking about the iPhone… and this fact led them to develop the Nokia 5800 Xpress), if they see a good idea they like, they’ll do their own take on it. You could be forgiven for thinking that Nokia had looked at the Motorola U9 and gone, “Ooh, we’ll have a bit of that action.”
That doesn’t change the fact, though, that the Nokia 6600 Fold is a very sexy-looking mobile phone. From the sleek, glossy fascias, to the ‘hidden’ outer screen, to the not-hidden-at-all, 16-million colour, inner screen, the 6600 Fold does, I have to concede, look pretty damn nice.
Looking nice is one thing though. Tigers look nice until one of ‘em eats you, so looks can be deceptive. The question is, are they deceptive with the Nokia 6600 Fold?
Well, it does have some nice features. However, they’re nice and not mind-blowing. The Nokia 6600 Fold comes with a 2 megapixel camera, a dedicated music and media player, and 3G data access. It therefore doesn’t have the best camera, it’s not the fastest online, and in no way could you ever say this is one of the highest-spec’d mobile phones in the world.
What it does do, though, it does well, and what it will always be best at is having decent features (not super-high-end), while looking mighty fine.
Ok, I wouldn’t go for it myself, because I want loads of features, as well as looks, but if shiny, catwalk-pretty mobile phones are your thing, you won’t go far wrong with the Nokia 6600 Fold.

The Nokia 6600 Fold is not like the Motorola U9. The U9, especially in pink and purple, is for girls.
