Yep, it’s happened folks, the iPhone has gone on sale on a network other than O2. As of today, the iPhone is officially available on Orange, we have all the deals update on our site, so we’re all good to go. So, if you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the Orange-flavoured iPhone 3GS, then today is your lucky day.
The sales figures so far would seem to suggest that a lot of people have been waiting to get their hands on the Orange iPhone…
Wanna know how many Orange have sold in one day? Thirty thousand of the chuffing things, that’s how many! Alright, no matter what my feelings on the iPhone are (come on, you should all know them by now), that is an incredibly impressive opening day, that is.
In fact, it’s being quoted as a record-breaking total, as it’s the highest first day sales total of any phone ever, apparently. Ooh, and also, you know how Orange said they were going to focus on adding ‘value’ to their iPhone deals, instead of trying to undercut O2 on price? Well, I’ve now seen one of the ways they’re doing that.
Their own Orange Wednesdays iPhone app. That’s actually pretty clever.
Meanwhile, according to IntoMobile, O2 have launched some new extra value packages for their iPhone (completely coincidentally, obviously, nothing to do with the Orange launch), and, well, they’re compelling to say the least! You can now get completely 3 months free access to SkySports through the Sky Mobile TV app, you can actually unlock your O2 iPhone at any time during your contract now (genuinely didn’t spot that one coming), but most importantly is what they’re now offering in the way of internet tethering (y’know, where you connect your phone to your laptop, and use the phone as a modem).
Want to know what you now get free (if you sign up before the end of the year) with their 9 quid tethering bundle? Free O2 Home Broadband, that’s what.
Okay, I don’t like the iPhone (and I never will), but that is a bleedin’ good deal!
