To answer the question in the title of this story, I really hope so! According to Pocket Lint, it may very well be about to happen, as rumours are persisting about Sony Ericsson debuting an entirely new series of phones to go alongside their Cyber-Shot (K-series) and Walkman (W-series) phones.
Called the G-series, the rumour states that the line will be “Compact Touch Devices”. So, let’s be clear, are we talking along the lines of the Prada and the Armani here?
Well, the answer is… erm, maybe, but we’re not sure. All we know for definite is that Sony Ericsson have a BIG announcement (and I mean BIG, from what rumours we’ve heard) planned for the Mobile World Congress, and a whole range of hero handsets to be unveiled. Could we be about to witness the G700i (with 3 MP camera) and the G900i (with 5 MP cam and WiFi)?
No pics as yet (obviously), so check out our artist’s impression (i.e. I made it) of what a forthcoming G-series phone might look like.
Now, if they do also announce the P5i alongside its new baby siblings, as I suspect they will (the reason being, there’s only 2 phones there, and SE usually announce their phones in threes…), then Sony Ericsson are going to have one hell of a portfolio this year!
