Uh, uh, uh, uh, excited, running around, can’t stop long to do blog post, phone I want’s just been announced, too excited, need to stop for a second. Sorry about that folks, I needed to get that out of my system. You can tell why I’m excited just from the title alone, right? The phone I want, the one I have decided will be my next phone, has been announced.
Yep, the Sony Ericsson X2 Xperia has gone official!
And yes, I have now firmly decided. Sony Ericsson, I’m sorry I made googoo eyes at Nokia over the N900. I should have never looked at another. To the X2 Xperia, I shall be true, forever. Or, at least, until its replacement comes out.
So, what about the specs? Well, they’ve been leaked countless times before, but to reiterate, you’re looking at Windows Mobile 6.5, which should make for a nice new interface experience. The screen’s been confirmed as 3.2 inches, which is smaller than I hoped, but since it’s now flush with the front of the phone, I can live with that. The camera’s the big new draw for me, since it comes in at 8 megapixels, a massive improvement over the 3 megapixels I’ve currently got.
Also, the finally announced Sony Ericsson X2 Xperia has fixed one of the things I hated about the prototypes we’d seen, and it was, as stupid as it sounds, something that was putting me off the phone big time. The keyboard. Specifically the colour. Y’see on the black prototype phones, the keyboard was also black. On the final production model (just like on the X1), the keyboard is silver. Which looks better. Because the black keyboard looked dull. And a bit unpleasant.
Now I know it has a silver keyboard, my last obstacle has disappeared. It shall be mine…
One annoying thing about the Sony Ericsson press release, however, is that it doesn’t say what the processor is in the X2 Xperia. And I want to know, dammit! I suspect it’ll be in the region of about 600-700MHz, but until we see official figures, we won’t know for certain.
Still, this is going to be my next phone, so I am, as you probably noticed, excited enough to not particularly care…
UPDATE! Video of the new version of the Panels Interface! And it’s even more awesomer. I’d go so far as to call it awesomest.
