Yep, you read that right, it’s finally official! The Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia, the handset that I’m almost 90% sure will be MY next mobile phone, has finally got a 100% official, direct-from-Sony-Ericsson release date, according to Gizmodo.
It’s fair to say I’m a little excited…
So, yes after months of waiting, and people claiming that the Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia had been pushed back to next year, the release date is nearly upon us. It’s hitting the UK on September 30th, 2008.
And that, dear readers, means that us Brits (along with Sweden and Germany) will be able to buy these stunning mobile phones (although there’s no word yet on whether we get the silver or the black version, or both) before anyone else in the whole, entire world.

I’m not going to bang on about features on the Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia, since I’ve been doing since it was announced in February, lest everyone in the office throw their own mobile phones at my face. Suffice to say, it’s massively powerful, it looks stunning, and it’s actually functional enough to be useful.
Sony Ericsson are planning a press conference and live webcast on September 15th to start the countdown to the Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia’s release, so rest assured, I will be sat glued to that on the day. Oh, and at the same time, they’ll be premiering the first episode of Johnny X, that viral video series I mentioned in yesterday’s posts. Well, it turns out, they have actually made a 9 part mini-series, that shows off the power of the Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia, as used by a bloke who’s lost his memory (See? Told you:Â Casino Royale meets Memento meets The Bourne Trilogy…)
All in all, then, I am really rather excited. As I said, the Sony Ericsson X1 Xperia could very well soon be MY mobile phone!
As long as I don’t change my mind, and get an LG KC910 Renoir, instead…
