Sony Ericsson T707 unveiled, Maria Sharapova likes it...Ah, what better way to kick the weekend off than by gazing longingly at pics of Maria Sharapova a new Sony Ericsson phone. Waaaaaaaay back in January 2008, news came out that Maria Sharapova had switched sponsors, and was becoming an endorsee of SE’s products. I said it wasn’t beyond the realms of possibility of us getting a special edition phone, and it seems SE were thinking the same thing.

So, say hello to the Sony Ericsson T707, a phone that’s clearly been made to make her happy. And that’s absolutely fine by me, although I can’t help but think she’d have been even happier if they’d made her a limited edition Sony Ericsson Idou.

Anyway, onto the phone itself, before we look at pics of Maria Sharapova the Sony Ericsson T707 in the wild.

(Look, I know why you’re reading this blog post, you know why you’re reading this blog post, but let’s at least pretend it’s about phones, shall we?)

I have to concede, it’s quite a striking phone, with a metallic paintjob (but not an actual metal body), a discrete, hidden screen on the front, and little whizzy lights that flash and, er, do things when you get a text message or so on. Features-wise, it’s very middle of the road fare, with 3.2 megapixel camera (minus autofocus and led flash, alas), although it has got some quite cool stuff in there, like geotagging of photos (which, needless to say, means it has GPS), HSDPA internet access, and gesture controls, whereby you can make the phone reject calls, or do various other things by waving your hand over the camera. Which is quite clever, really.

Don’t expect anything like the raw power of the Sony Ericsson W995, or the aforementioned Idou, but since it’s clearly being sold on its looks and design, that ain’t necessarily a problem.

Annnnnnnnnnnnd, speaking of looks, here’s the bit everyone’s reading this for: the gallery of Maria Sharapova the Sony Ericsson T707.

Stunning, isn’t she it?
