Sony Ericsson sponsors Sharapova

sony ericsson sharapovaAccording to this story from Mobile Burn, tennis ace Maria Sharapova has binned her sponsorship deal, and jumped ship to my particular favourite handset maker, Sony Ericsson.

Becoming an international ambassador for Sony Ericsson, I would say we’ll see Sharapova-branded phones in the not too distant future, at the very least, since Motorola did something similar when they released a limited edition Pebl.

Let’s also assume it’s not outside the realms of possibility to see her sporting (sporting, get it?) a whole range of Sony Ericsson accessories; tennis whites, racket bag, towel, whatever else it is tennis players use…

Look, I know I’m not sporting, and I know I don’t watch Wimbledon for fear of Cliff Richard singing again, but since Maria Sharapova’s one of my dream-women, and since it’s related to my favourite phone maker, I had to cover this story.

Tell you what, though, I’m not the only one. I bet if they were to release a Maria Sharapova edition Sony Ericcson W910i, it’d fly off the shelves!

‘Course, they’d all be bought by men…

[EDIT: Especially for reader Tony Salt (and everone else who wants it but hasn't had the nerve to speak up yet) we have more pics frmo the press conference, of the erstwhile Miss Sharapova. And one of her on the court:

Well, since you asked so nicely, I’ve edited the post with a few more pics of Sharapova lovingly cradling a Sony Ericsson phone.

Or being in front of a Sony Ericsson banner.

And one of her on the tennis court, because, you know, like, she’s a tennis player…
