The world’s been waiting eagerly for Sony Ericsson to unveil their first Android phone, and now, thanks to the manufacturer’s own What’s Next? site, we know when we’ll finally get to clap eyes on the release version of the Rachael.
November 3rd, folks. Put it in your diaries.
The eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that particular Sony Ericsson page doesn’t actually say anything about it being the Rachael, so you’re doubtless wondering if I’m getting my hopes up, again, for something that’ll turn out to be just another feature phone. Well, no, not this time, because if you look at the source code on that page, there’s the name Sony Ericsson Rachael, bold as brass. Given that’s what’s written on Sony Ericsson’s own page, I’d say it’s a shoe-in to actually be the real deal…
So, let’s have a bit of speculation as to what the phone will actually be like when it gets announced.
By now, we should all know the hardware specs, what with them including a 4.1 inch screen, a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and an 8MP camera. The phone itself looks to be ultra-slim, and with that massive screen, it looks like it’ll be rather tasty to use, and very possibly, nearly as nice as the HTC HD2.
As for software, things are a little bit more unclear, although of course, we know it’ll be an Android phone. Whether the rumours about it having its own custom interface were genuine or not remains to be seen, although I still have my doubts. And let’s not forget, recent spyshots of it have shown it just with the standard Android front end.
So, we’ll have to wait and see, but one thing’s for sure: November 3rd is going to be rather exciting!
