Sony Ericsson Aino – more live shots appear online

Sony Ericsson AinoI’ve been going on about the Sony Ericsson Satio for ages (mostly under its development name of Idou, of course), but today, I’m gonna give its little sibling a bit of love.

Yup, thanks to a new gallery on se-community (which appears to be all in German), it’s time for the Sony Ericsson Aino to take the spotlight. I’ll be honest, I really, really like the look of it, and if you want the simple reason it’s because it looks gorgeous.

I mean, look at it. It’s dead slim, the front’s all screen, and it’s got that kind of soft-touch casing that doesn’t show fingerprints, along with shiny (ooh, shiny) metal edges. The Sony Ericsson Aino is an unreserved thing of beauty. It ain’t half bad in terms of features, either. You’ve got an 8 megapixel camera on the back, remote control for your PS3 (if you’ve got a PS3, which I haven’t, ‘cos I could barely afford an Xbox, damn Sony with their expensive console pricing model). And you’ve got a frankly stunning media player.

Ah yes, the media player…

It’s awesome, it really is, and it’s all touch-based, as well, letting you flick through your albums, or movies, or whatever. It’s the best bit of the phone (even taking the 8MP camera into account), but it’s also the source of my only gripe about the Sony Ericsson Aino. Y’see, the media player is the only bit of the phone that uses the touchscreen. It would’ve really rocked to see the entire interface be touch-enabled, but alas, it’s not to be. A touchscreen version of Sony Ericsson’s feature-phone OS would’ve, in all probability, rocked my world.

So, conclusion… Well, I’ll have to wait until I get my grubby paws on one to give your a proper lowdown on it, but I’m predicting this will be one of the best non-smartphones the world’s ever seen. There’s a whole ton of java apps you can download to SE’s non-smartphone range (seriously, my sister probably has more extra stuff on her K850i than I do on my X1), and as feature-phones go, this has got the legs to be one of the best…
