So, is this the first Windows phone with PureView camera tech?

Right then, I’ve done a couple of posts about what I reckon will be the single best camera phone ever made, the Nokia 808 PureView. However, when I say “best”, I mean best in terms of camera quality, not in terms of general brilliance. I don’t mean it’ll be the best phone ever, because it won’t. Because it runs on Symbian. When ye see a Windows phone with a PureView camera, that will be the time to get excited.

According to WMPoweruser, that day might not be too far away, ‘cos a leaked pic has emerged, which purports to show the very first Nokia Windows phone to include PureView camera technology. I’ll be honest, though, I’d be more excited if it didn’t look so weird

There’s two main things that make it look mental, and the first one is the colour on the back panel. Did they really need to make it so eye-bleedingly bright? The two colours you see there aren’t yellow and pink, no sir; they’re YEEEELLOOOOOOOOW and PIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINK. I tend to favour phones that look all sleek and classy, so it’s a little disquieting to see one that bears a striking resemblance to a sun going nova. And then, there’s the screen (rumoured to come in at 4.3 inches). I’m not against phones with curved screen, ‘cos when they’re done well, they look rather nice (case in point: the Samsung Galaxy Nexus). Again, it goes back to being tasteful and classy, I suppose, whereas this phone looks vaguely like it’s gone all bendy in the sun.

And yet, the more I look at it, the more I find myself actually kinda liking the design. It’s a bit weird, sure, but the point it this: it’s unique. Sure, it’s a huge departure from the likes of the Nokia Lumia 900, but is that a bad thing? It looks distinctive, at least, and there’s a lot to be said for that. Plus, of course, it’ll have that monster of a 41MP camera, and that’s a big plus.

Assuming this leak is genuine, of course, ‘cos as always, there’s a chance that it’s a complete load of old cobblers…
