I’ve gone on, at great length, about how far HTC have come on in the world, from their days as an OEM manufacturer, right up to the current day, where they (and their phones) sit right at the bleeding edge of the mobile world. They’ve become synonymous with powerful, innovative phones, like the HTC HD2, and if the latest rumour proves to be correct, they’re about to show the world the next level of Android phones.
According to MobileCrunch, that’s because they’re working on a new phone called the HTC Scorpion, and if the specs are to be believed, it is a beast…
The main reason it’s a beast is the processor, because if the rumour’s accurate, the HTC Scorpion will have a next-gen Snapdragon processor. And by next-gen, I mean it’s half as fast again as the current Snapdragon chip, which means it’ll be running at 1.5GHz. Which is quite fast. Really quite very fast. Let’s not beat about the bush, that’s firmly into laptop performance territory, that is, and it even puts the aforementioned HD2 to shame.
Yes, my mouth is watering at the prospect of a phone that fast…
However, it doesn’t end with the processor, as the HTC Scorpion, according to the supposed leaked info, has WiMax AND a new version of Android: version 2.2, or ‘Froyo’ as it’s apparently called. That makes it even more advanced than the Nexus One, which runs on Android 2.1. There’s no hints what new stuff this new build of Android will bring, but based on the logic it’s one more than the Nexus One’s OS, it should be, at least, a tiny bit more powerful.
Now, it’s worth noting that the leak could be entirely faked, since there’s no images or video in it, and it ain’t that hard to just type some fictitious specs up. But hey, if it is on the level, then we could be about to see one almightily powerful hit the market…
