Announced today is a brand new mobile phone in the Sony Ericsson stable, a mid-range, feature-packed handset called the G705.
But, what can we expect from the Sony Ericsson G705? What does this little beauty have to offer?
Well, one thing’s very clear; the G705, like its big brother, the Sony Ericsson G900, very definitely fall under the ‘G’ category of mobile phones, over at Sony Ericsson, handsets that are characterised by organiser features and web access more than anything else. Sure, it’s a got a great 3 megapixel camera, a brilliant media player, FM radio and GPS, but it’s in one particular area this Sony Ericsson beastie really excels.
The internet. So, you get lightning-fast HSDPA internet access on the Sony Ericsson G705. You get WiFi. You get Exchange ActiveSync, to get emails easily, on the move. Oh, and the Sony Ericsson G705 comes with a full internet browser, so you’ll be viewing proper websites (not just WAP ones), no the move.
All good stuff. All a bit serious, though, isn’t it…
Time for the fun stuff. Y’see, with the Sony Ericsson G705, you get several brilliant little features that you don’t often find on other mobile phones. Things like instant Youtube access, so you can watch videos with one button press, and even upload your own videos, from the Sony Ericsson G705, just after you’ve filmed someone falling off their skateboard and breaking both legs (I’m guessing, here, since that seems to make up 90% of Youtube). Ah, but then, you see, you have one button access to Google Maps, along with built-in GPS on the Sony Ericsson G705, so you can instantly tell the paramedics where the guy with the skateboard and two broken legs is (I’m hanging on to this joke, if it kills me…).
All in all, then, the Sony Ericsson G705 is a gorgeous, powerful little mobile phone. The only thing it’s lacking is a QWERTY keyboard, but then, if it had one of them, it’d cost a lot more. And it’s going to be very affordable. I’m predicting, right here and now, that it’s going to be hard for other mobile phones to even touch the value for money you’ll get from the Sony Ericsson G705.
And hey, if it helps save the life of a skateboarder with two broken legs, so much the better!
