I’ve made it abundantly clear that I’m really excited about the upcoming phone that was formerly known as the HTC Edge, and now goes by the moniker of HTC Endeavor. So, imagine my glee when I read on Android Central that the RUU (ROM Update Utility) for the phone had appeared online, and that enterprising people have picked it apart, to grab some screenshots and a list of specs.
And yes, it’s running on Ice Cream Sandwich, so we now have a concrete view of what the Sense UI that HTC uses will look like, running on that new version of Android. Granted, most of the screenshots are of the lock screen, but at least it shows us what the themes look like, and that you can add widgets to that lock screen…
Basically, what I’m saying is that it looks rather damn pretty. I’ve always been a fan of the Sense UI, so seeing what it’ll be like on Ice Cream Sandwich is a genuine treat for me, even if the most apt description of the way it looks is “broadly the same as it’s always looked on Android”. However, what’s got me most excited is the list of specs.
Y’see, I love big, powerful phones like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Always have. Basically, the bigger the screen, and the more powerful the processor, the happier I am. So, when the leaked specs show that the HTC Endeavor has a quad-core Tegra 3 processor (rumoured to run at 1.5GHz) and a 4.7 inch 720p HD screen, assume that I’m very happy indeed, and a little bit love. My only worry, therefore, is the name. Why? Simple, the American spelling of “Endeavor”, ‘cos it makes me worry that the phone will only ever be sold in the USA, and the phone needs to be released over here, too.
Well, okay, what I mean is that I need the phone to be released over here in Blighty, ‘cos it’s the only phone I want more than the HTC Sensation XE. If they release it over here, I will buy it. Simple as that…
