One of the most anticipated phones of 2008 (and early 2009) was the Nokia 5800, the first mainstream touchscreen phones from the Finnish megacorporation. However, let’s be honest, we all knew it wouldn’t be the last. There’s the Nokia N97 coming soon, and now, they’ve announced another XpressMusic phone, to follow in the 5800′s footsteps, according to our very own news section.
And, as you can see, it’s really rather pretty…
Basically, imagine a 5800, but with a more metallic-looking, stylised body. Specs-wise, you get the same 3MP camera, the same stunning music and media player (with that drop-down bar from the 5800 which was really rather cool). Symbian Touch is as nice to use as ever, and now, you’ve got Nokia’s new Contacts Bar, that lets you scroll through your favourite contacts right from the front screen.
Obviously, though, with this being an even more mid-range phone than the 5800 (surely you can tell that from the name), the Nokia 5530 has a slightly smaller screen, coming in at 2.9 inches. So, it looks like it’s Nokia’s first mid-to-budget-class phone!
We’ll have to see how it sells, but if they get the price right, I predict “a whole shedload” may be an accurate description…
