iPhone OS 3.0 to be unveiled March 17thNews for all the Apple fans out there, now, courtesy of the BoyGeniusReport. March 17th is all set to be the date that Apple unveil a sneak preview of their newest iPhone OS, version 3.0.

So, the question is, now, what new features will it include?

Well, according to BGR, there’s talk of it finally including MMS as a feature (something phones have been doing for about, ooooh, 4 years), as well as the ability to ‘tether’ the iPhone to a laptop, and use it as a modem. Whether that will pan out or not is anybody’s guess, but a lot of people are shouting for a trio of new features, specifically copy/paste, flash support and a landscape keyboard.

But hey, since I’ve given up trying to show to iPhone users how useful copy/paste is (seriously, I use it loads), my current opinion is what the heck…

What’s interesting, though, is that the iPhone 2.0 OS was unveiled about the same time last year, and in that case, it was a precursor to a new version of the phone (the current iPhone 3G) being launched in June. So, that begs the question of whether we will be seeing a new iPhone this summer.

The smart money says yes, but it’s going to have to have a lot of new features if it’s going to try and take on the Palm Pre on anything other than brand name…
