Mobile World Congress: British company to show Android prototype

google android logoIn another one of those “Woohoo, my prediction was right!” moments, it’s been kind of announced (but strenuously not confirmed, but curiously, not denied either) today that the first proper working prototype of a Googlephone, using Android, will be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress next week, according to Pocket Lint.

And who’s the lucky company who gets to be the first? Is it HTC? Is it Samsung? LG?

Nope, it’s a company called ARM, better known for designing computer chips. It’s better than that, though. ARM is a British company. Which means the first Gphone that the world see, if the story is indeed true, will be made by us Limeys.

Ha! Yes! We rock!

*does the happy dance*

There’s no word yet on what it will look like or what it will do. But as I predicted, it will rock. Those demos of Android from ages back showed us that it was frighteningly fast. Combine that with equally fast hardware, and I reckon we could see the emerging of a new mobile phone superpower! More on this story as it develops!
