It’s well known that Microsoft, in their quest to grab more of the mobile market, bought a company called Danger. Y’know, the ones responsible for the Sidekick. Since they bought them, though, things have gone very quiet on that score, with the only the odd rumour about something called Project ‘Pink’ to keep us occupied. According to Engadget Mobile, however, some intriguing news has popped up on Danger’s own Twitter feed.
Put it this way, Danger are dropping some not so subtle hints on their various Twitter feeds that they’re currently in the shakedown and testing phase on a brand new handset.
Having ruled out it’s not just some random guy twittering from his Sidekick (since the Tweets say “from Danger”, not “from Sidekick”, and they link back to Microsoft’s homepage), the Tweets get rather interesting, dropping hints about a new project being in testing, and living on the bleeding edge. And since the bleeding edge usually means hyper-advanced (well, it’s supposed to), then they might have their hands on something rather exciting.
It’s also quite funny they call the WinMo 7 team lame for not sharing their donuts. Who’d have thunk that Microsoft programmers were donut hogs?
So, the question is, what are they up to? Well, it’s been a long time since we heard any rumours about Pink, and for all we know, it could’ve shuffled off this mortal coil, but Microsoft and Danger are long overdue for producing their first phone together. Can we expect to see something close in spirit with the Sidekick, only with added awesome sauce (that’s extra greatness, not vodka, obviously)? More to the point, can we expect to see the first fruit of Microsoft and Danger’s union appear at the upcoming MWC?
That’d be cool, if we do, ‘cos then Microsoft would have (if we go by the rumours) a brand new Danger phone and Windows Phone Seven to show off. Has the potential to make it a raaaaaaaaaaaather exciting MWC, that does…
