Ooh, ooh, ooh, exciting! There’s been loads of talk about Windows Phone 7, and even a couple of leaks of handsets running on it, but now, we actually get to see one properly doing its thing, in the flesh!
Well, sort of, because what it is is a prototype phone Microsoft are sending out to developers, so they can more easily create apps for it, according to Innovative Singapore. And while it’s most definitely still a prototype, it is an actual Windows Phone 7 handset, in the flesh, and doing its thang. And the best bit is that, despite it being a prototype, the software is incredibly fast and responsive.
All in all, then, if a prototype phone is already behaving with the speed and responsiveness of a full production model, it’s a fair bet that Windows Phone 7, when it actually gets released to the public, will be very, very, very nice. And if you don’t believe me (or them) on how responsive it is, check out the link to their page. They even have video of the start-up sequence which is about on a par with current Windows Mobile phones, and is as smooth as a very smooth thing.
And now, I inevitably end up thinking how good Windows Phone 7 will be at the end of my current contract (which is in two years time). They’ll have easily had time to sort out the things I have an issue with (such as no copy/paste), and I’ll have had a brilliant two years playing with the best phone ever made (the HTC HD2, natch), so all in all, win-win…
Oh, and in case you’re wondering, this phone is called the LG Panther. Sorry, forgot to mention that earlier.
