If you’re talking modern touchscreen phones, LG stand out as one of the most prolific touchscreen makers in recent times, or, well, ever. Them and Samsung are always making touchy-feely phones, and that ain’t a bad thing, ‘cos they both make some rather gorgeous handsets. Oh, and they’re not just top-end smartphones, either, because LG frequently aim their touchscreen phones at the mid-range. Y’know, phones like the LG Cookie.
Well, there’s soon to be another one hit the market, according to their own press release, as the LG GD910 Pop is on its way.
Specs-wise, it’s very similar to the Cookie, with 3MP camera, a 3 inch touchscreen, and a completely minimalistic design, which this time amount to one single button on the front of the phone (where the Cookie had three). However, you now get an aluminium shell, 3G (which the Cookie lacked) and 8GB of internal storage.
Software-wise, the interface is looking very similar to the Cookie (although it may very well be S-Class, like you get in the LG Viewty Smart… until I see the interface in action, I won’t be able to tell for certain). Of course, that means it’s got a widget-y front end, as is de rigueur these days, which is a good thing, ‘cos I like widget-y front ends.
So, all in all, the specs are very definitely mid-range, but considering how well the Cookie sold (ie/ very), and considering the Pop looks a lot sexier, I reckon this should fly off shelves.
