Of the big handset manufacturers in the world, there’s only a couple who haven’t at least announced an Android phone. Samsung have made one, Motorola are set to soon announce two, and as we all know, HTC have released about a million. Sony Ericsson haven’t announced one yet, but the Rachael is rumoured to be on the way. Nokia haven’t announced one, and… well, it’s unlikely they’ll have any plans to ever make one.
And then there’s LG. They haven’t announced one, but now it looks like one has been leaked anyway, according to Mobile Tech World. And in a bizarre twist, it has the same name as one of the earlier phones…
As you can see in the pic on this blog post, it’s called (tentatively, at least) the LG Etna, which means it shares a name with the LG KS360. Well, actually, in point of fact, the label implies it’s called the LG Etna Android, so it’s not exactly the same name. But does that name actually give us some idea of what the phone will be like?
Y’see, the KS360, the other phone known as the Etna, is an entry-level messaging phone, with a QWERTY keyboard and a limited touchscreen (limited, that is, to only being used in the phone dialler). Soooooo, thinking logically, does this mean the new LG Etna Android is the next iteration of their entry-level messaging phone, but with an actual smartphone OS, and touchscreen interaction all the way? Or is it higher end than the average messaging phone? Well, the specs seem to suggest the latter, with a 3 inch screen, and a 5MP camera.
Whatever the case, I can tell you two things right now: 1/ it looks pretty damn sleek; and 2/ that keyboard looks brilliant…
