I love Sony Ericsson. I’ve always loved Sony Ericsson, even when they were still Sony and Ericsson (separate, like). As is famous on this blog, now, I’ve got a Sony Ericsson X1, and I love it to bits. They may have just introduced the Entertainment Unlimited and GreenHeart brands, but I suspect the Xperia brand will always have my heart.
Especially if the news story on Engadget Mobile is genuine, because if it is, it’s given me my first look at what I reckon will be my next phone…
The Sony Ericsson X2.
It’s gorgeous.
So, from the pic, what can we tell about the hopefully-genuine X2? Well, it’s definitely running Windows Mobile, as it’s got a Windows key on the keyboard. The keyboard looks to have bigger keys, which suggests a bigger device, which will mean a bigger screen. My guess? 3.5 inches, or thereabouts. It’s definitely going to have the Panels interface, like the X1, because it’s got an X-panel key in the same place as my phone. There also looks to be a bit of a curve to the bit with the keyboard on, so I’m guessing it’ll be an arc-slider, again like the X1.
As for internal specs, it’s anyone’s guess at the minute, but as always, I have a wishlist of what I hope they put in. For the processor, I want a Snapdragon. 1GHz processor speed? Yes, please! As for which version of WinMo it’ll have, I’d guess 6.5, although if it’s not out until next year (which it most likely won’t be), if they can get WinMo 7 on there, so much the better. And as for camera, I want 8MP, but my gut instinct is that it’ll have 5MP, so it doesn’t tread on the toes of Entertainment Unlimited phones like the Aino and the Sony Ericsson Satio.
Still, they’ve got a clear target to beat (the Toshiba TG01, in my opinion), so let’s hope the X2 lives up to what I hope it’s going to be like…
