HTC M7, or whatever it ends up being called, to be announced at CES?

Y’know how I got all excited about the HTC Butterfly, that monster of a phone, that’s got a 5-inch 1080p screen? Well, I didn’t mention it at the time, but there was a news story in December, which said that the HTC Butterfly is not going to be released in Europe. Naturally, I wondered why this might be the case, but it turns out that it may well be because HTC has got something even more gob-smacking planned.

Y’see, there was another rumour in December, saying that HTC is working on a phone called the HTC M7; now, according to UnwiredView, we may well know when they’re announcing it. It’s allegedly due to be announced at CES, and I shall tell ya why I’m excited…

I’ve said it before, and I’ll doubtless say it again, but when it comes to smartphones, there’s two traits that I utterly adore in a phone; I like ’em big, and I like ’em powerful. The rumoured HTC M7 is both. Ooh, blimey, is it both! According to the source, it’s got a 4.7 inch screen, the same as the HTC One X Plus (which is a bit of a surprise, since the previous rumours had said it was a 5-incher), and that screen is a 1080p jobbie.

Okay, I’ll be honest, that bit is kind of a letdown. I was expecting something bigger than the Samsung Galaxy S3

Ah well, at least the other specs are above anything else on the market, most notably the fact that it’s said to have 2GB of RAM, a 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro chip, and a whopping 13MP camera. Oh, and there’s supposedly a 2300mAh battery powering it, which is good, ‘cos a screen that high resolution is going to eat batteries for lunch.

Anyway, CES is happening next week, so we shouldn’t have long to wait until we find out the truth…

About TechnicalMarkus

It's a little known fact Technical Markus has now beaten both his Transformers addiction AND his Mass Effect addiction, by replacing both with an equally obsessive addiction to XCOM: Enemy Unknown and buying Humble Bundles for his Android phone. At the moment, he's pondering the actual usefulness of smartwatches and smart glasses, even if the nerd in him is shouting for joy at how sci-fi they are. He spends his spare time being whinged at to figure out what's wrong with other people's mobile phones, and drinking unimaginable quantities of tea. With milk. And three sweeteners, thanks for asking. Oh, and he's got an HTC One X, but he reckons his next phone might be a Sony, the turncoat...
