With the HTC Magic being the new darling of Google Android, and Samsung having revealed their own Android phone, news has popped up about HTC’s next robotically-operating-system-ed handset, according to Code Android.
And in an it-won’t-shock-anyone-with-its-name kinda way, it’s said to be called the HTC G3 (or, according to the early prototype name for it, the much more epic-sounding Hero).
So, what do we know about HTC’s new wunderkind? Well, frankly, not a great deal. About now, all anyone can concretely say is that it’s running on Google Android (state the chuffin’ obvious, Mark) and has a great big touchscreen. Oh, and it doesn’t appear to have a hardware keyboard, much like the HTC Magic. The other thing that’s been dropped is the little trackball under the screen, by the look of it.
However, an important addition is something that both the HTC Magic and the T Mobile G1 lacked: a 3.5mm headphone jack. Finally, on an Android phone, you’ll be able to use your own headphones for music, without having to use a honking great adaptor.
So, in conclusion, no-one has any idea what the final spec will be, what network it will be on, or even what its final name will be. Still, at least we know what it looks like, and that’s got to count for something, right?
