Right then, here’s a story that is, as even the source link at PocketNow says, purely for phone geeks like me. But if it’s true, it is quite an unusual turn of events, so I thought I’d write about it, anyway. Also, it’s a slow news day, so there’s that, too. But yes, basically, the news is this: the HTC Edge is now no longer known as the HTC Endeavor, internally, at HTC. Yes, it’s not even a proper name change, it’s a codename change.
Told you it was a slow news day…
So, why am I writing about this, really? Well, it’s simply because I’m so excited about seeing the HTC Edge/HTC Endeavor. And yes, I’m going to tell you why you should be excited, too…
The first obvious fact is that it’s going to be using (if the reports are accurate) an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, which means it’s a quad-core phone. Which means it’s powerful. Which means it’s awesome. I don’t know what speed the processor will be clocked to, but I’d guess it’ll be at least 1GHz, and possibly more like 1.5GHz. Anyway, the point is that it’s quad-core, which is brilliant, ‘cos it’ll make even the already powerful HTC Sensation XE look a bit, well, slow.
Also, it’s reportedly going to have a 720p HAD screen, but it’s also supposed to be “optically laminated”. Which means what, exactly? Well, I’m not entirely sure, but I think it’s that new tech that makes screens reflect natural light less, making them exponentially more usable in direct sunlight. If true, that’s a big win, for the HTC Edge/Endeavor.
Oh, and finally, it won’t be called the HTC Edge/Endeavor (which is good, since the American spelling of “Endeavor” annoys me), either. That’s just a codename, and it’s said that it’ll be called the HTC Supreme, on release.
Seems like an apt name, if the specs for this thing are accurate…
