Nokia’s firmly jumping on music phones with their next 2 offerings, part of their Xpress Music line.
First up is the ultra-slim one of the pair, the Nokia 5310 Xpress. As you can see, it’s a candybar phone, packing a host of music playback controls round the screen. It’s also got a built-in 2 megapixel camera, which isn’t that big nowadays, but… that doesn’t matter, because music is where this thing is at…
Not only will the music player play more different file types than damn near any phone on the market (including WMA files, which is a novelty, in a good way), but you get an FM Radio built in, and that has RDS, so you don’t have to fiddle about tuning into your favourite station every time you want to hear it.
Not only that, but the 5310 Xpress is thin. Really thin. “How the hell do they make it so thin??” thin. At only 9.9mm, on a phone packed with this much stuff, none of us can work out how they managed to fit it all in!
Now, it also has a big brother, and on that one, the Nokia 5610 Xpress, they’ve gone for a slidephone. Soooooooooooooo, not only do you get the same great music playback, but you get a better camera (3 megapixels), 3G internet (fast data, ahoy!) and it’s all brought together inside a funky little body. Oh, and it looks stunning.
There’s something about red and black together (yes, they do a blue and black variant, but I prefer the red), that just looks drop dead gorgeous. Needless to say, you get the same level of awesome music playback in this as its baby brother, and in both Xpress phones, you get support for Bluetooth stereo headphones. Which is nice, because it means you get to listen to music without garrotting yourself on wires!
So, have a look at the Nokia 5310 Xpress annnnnnd its big brother, the Nokia 5610 Xpress. And I bet you’ll like them as much as I do.

Are there no better, clearer images of the 5310, it’s so pixelated, it looks like you are trying to hide it’s identity for fear of attack!

I shall see what I can do Tony, just for you.
EDIT:
New image uploaded, and you’re right, Tony, it does look better. Big thanks for the heads-up! :O)

I’m buying either one – which should I go for?

Well, the 5610 is clearly the big brother of the two, as it has the higher spec, but the 5310 is much, much, much thinner, to the point where it’s hard to believe how thin it is!
So, it’s a case of deciding which is the most important part for you: slightly better features on a phone, or a mind-blowingly tiny phone.
