Do you have a Series 60 Nokia (something like an N95)? Do you want to watch Youtube videos on your mobile? Do you get annoyed because you can’t?
Well, never fear, because this news story‘s has come through us, of a software app just for you, called emTube. So I just had to have a look, and see if it’s any good.
Basically, it is.
The software will let you search and browse videos on Youtube, download videos onto your phone, and is packed with features familiar to Youtubers, like audio and playback controls, normal and full-screen mode, and best of all, you can watch the videos in landscape, with your phone on its side.
What makes it possible is something very simple. You see, there aren’t many mobile phones on the planet that will playback FlashVideos. I know for a fact mine doesn’t, which is a major bugbear, but hey.
All of Youtube’s videos are FlashVideos, so it should be obvious why they won’t play, and exactly what emTube really is.
Yup, it’s a FlashVideo player. Which means you have full access to absolutely anything on Youtube, and also, to any FlashVideos of your own that you may have. Check out this footage of it in action, on a Nokia E61:
Yep, that’s right, it’s a Youtube video, showing emTube watching Youtube!
All I can say is, it’s about time! Now get a version of it made for UIQ phones like the Sony Ericsson P1 and P990. Because I want Youtube as well, and I’m gonna sulk until you make it……
