Slowly, and surely, they threw their phones against us…

Yes, it’s made to last, but in the cautionary tale, War Of The Worlds, it doesn’t. Because aliens invade the Earth.

We can’t help but think that a mobile phone will need more than fabric covers when gigantic, tripod fighting machines rock up to Earth, going “Ullah!” (in the original novel, anyway, and the 1978 Jeff Wayne album, which is, incidentaly, the best album EVER MADE, and anyone who argues is wrong…….… erm, where was I? Oh aye… in the film, they go “Hoooooooooooooooonk”), and start blowing everything up.

So, why is this a cautionary tale?

Well, there’s the obvious reasons normal people would suggest:

Do not assume you are the most important life in the universe, as you will be wiped out by something more powerful.

When all of man’s hope is lost, it is the little things, the bacteria (or Tom Cruise), that will save us.

However, we feel that there are two obvious morals being missed here:

Mobile phones should not be subjected to electromagnetic pulses, or they will die.

Aliens are bad.
