The Matrix Phone

matrix nokiaThe Matrix will always be remembered for cutting edge special effects, mindbending plotline, and kung fu. The Matrix Reloaded & Revolutions will be remembered for going bigger, louder, brasher, and for making us all go, “Eh?”

But, they all had mobile phones, as well. Yes, sirree-bob!

Admit it, you remember the first Matrix movie. The bit where he’s climbing out the office before the Agents catch him, with Morpheus on the phone. And the phone itself was a Nokia 8110.

And it fell to its death off that skyscraper, and no-one mentioned it in the Oscars for dying that year!

After that, it all went a bit mental with the second and third films, Reloaded and Revolutions. Well, ok, very mental.

And it, like the films, was mental. The design brief to Samsung was “make it feel like a gun”, which just goes to show what you’re capable of, especially if you have a big budget and a lack of common sense.

But Samsung did pull it out the bag, with the N270. Futuristic look? Check. Sliding, spring-loaded top bit, that the actor can smack into the phone like the clip in handgun? Check. Preinstalled wallpaper of the green writing coming down the screen, just like in the film? Check.

And you just know it sold by the bucketload!

In America, anyway. We never got it over here. Not that we’re bitter. Nope. Not us.

*quietly sobs as the film finishes*
