Text-flirt with someone in the car behind you

motorflirtNews has come through to us from SMS Text News of a service designed to let you flirt, through your mobile phone, with someone who you happen to see in another car.

Basically, you set up a profile with MotorFlirt.com, then, when you see someone in the car opposite who you really fancy, for example, you send a text message to a short code with their registration number and a short message (I would advise a clean one for your first impression, ‘cos you never get a second chance, otherwise).

If they’re a member (but with roughly somewhere in the region of 37 million road users in the UK… erm… that’s quite a big IF!), and if they like the sound of you (potentially bigger IF in my case…), then they can get back in touch, and you can do what comes naturally.

I’m not entirely sure what to think of this. Part of me (the ‘single’ bit) thinks it’s a good idea. The rest of me (the ‘sensible’ bit) thinks it’s really dangerous, and you’ll go to prison for 2 years if you do it, unless you pull over first.

And while MotorFlirt do say on their website to NEVER text while driving, you just know someone’s going to…

[EDIT: I've realised why I'm torn on this subject, it's because someone on their mobile phone, while driving, nearly took me clean off the road at a roundabout this morning. Grrrrrrrrrr.]

What do you folks think, good idea, bad idea? Leave us a comment below and have your say!
