Acer to release Android phone in SeptemberWith the T-Mobile G1 still selling well, and the HTC Magic gearing up to be the next Android phone in HTC’s range, another manufacturer’s announced they’re going to be making an Android phone, according to Talk Android.

And this time, it’s Acer.

Well, let’s be fair, there were rumours ages ago that Acer would be making an Android, it’s just that they confounded everyone at the MWC 09 by only announcing some new Windows Mobile phones. Looks like they’ve finally come out and said that yes, they are developing something Android-powered.

Well, in fact, they haven’t, it’s just a rumour at the minute, but it in a way, them making both WinMo and Android phones feels right, karmically speaking. As PC manufacturers, they use both Windows and Linux, so why should their phones be any different?

And so, we’re rumoured to be getting the Acer A1, although there’s absolutely no indication at the minute, just what the A1 will be like (and note, the pic on this blog post is a mock-up, not the real thing). That’s assuming it is genuine, of course, since Acer themselves have refused to comment.

Of course, if it is genuine, it’s gonna have some stiff competition, since the HTC Magic is on its way, to mop up the ‘I don’t want a keyboard on my phone’ brigade that the G1 hasn’t managed to capture.

Expect to see the Acer A1 in September, if it’s real…
