I can remember when the TV series Primeval started last year. Everyone went “Doctor Who ripoff”, without even watching it. To be frank, that’s their loss, because Primeval is, quite simply, one of the most stunning programs ITV have ever made. Annnnnnnnnnnd we get some mobile phone action in it, oh yes we do!
For anyone who’s not see it, the plot revolves around prehistoric animals (and one or two from the future), running amok in modern England after coming through anomalies, doors in time and space. Needless to say, a team is put together to deal with this, chop chop, pronto, like.
And they need to communicate, so what phones do they have?
Well, the main character, Nick Cutter (played note perfectly by Douglas Henshall) has a Nokia N95. Abby (played by Hannah Spearitt, who spent most of season one in her pants) presumably has a girlie phone, although, to be honest, her wandering round in her pants tends to make people not notice what phone she’s got. Helen Cutter (who’s actually a villain, so we can boo her) has what looks like a Samsung D900i. And Conner, the team’s resident loveable nerd bloke, has… well, if I’m honest, I’m not sure what it is, so if anyone recognises it, let us know! It looks like an old XDA-type phone, or something like an old IPAQ.
Oh, and Primeval also stars Lucy Brown. I mention that, because she is easily the best-looking woman I’ve seen on TV in a long time. By a very substantial margin.
See what I mean?
She probably has a phone in the show, but my mind was elsewhere at the time…

My thoughts are ‘phone spotting on tv programmes’ how sad are you lot.
You’re worse by far than train spotters (at least they get out in the fresh air)
and stamp collectors put together.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but yep, I’m sad. It’s brilliant, you can get away with random acts of coolness without actually having to try to be cool ALL THE TIME, whereas cool people always have to look cool!

Plus, I collect Transformers, so what do you expect?! MWUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
