The world is divided into 2 distinct groups:
1. Those who absolutely adore the massive sci-fi hit ‘Heroes’…
2. Those who have no taste…
You see, Heroes is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best program on telly. Bar none. But, this is a mobile phone blog, so this story is going to be about phones. Basically… are the phones in Heroes as super-powered as the heroes themselves?
Well, no, obviously not, bad question (a Motorola V3i can’t make nuclear explosions, unless the battery’s REEEEEEEALLY full). Perhaps a better question is: are they any good?
First up is the lovable duo of Hiro and Ando, possibly the best TV characters created in the last 10 years. And they use a Nokia N73, as you can see up the top of this story. Fair play to them, it’s a decent phone. Ooh, plus, added advantage, it has a 3 megapixel cam, so if Hiro used his ability to bend time and space to travel back to the Cretaceous, and snag a pic of a real live T-rex, he’d make a fortune. Although, of course, he’s far too good and noble for that.
A far more complex character is Mr Bennett, the company man, horn-rimmed glasses guy, Claire’s dad… although his character begs the question, “if he works for this all-powerful company, why were they too tight to give him anything newer than a Motorola PEBL??”
Mind you, that’s easily explained. Remember the show is set in the USA, a country traditionally way behind the UK in terms of mobile phone technology (since they argued for years over switching from analogue to digital). Which explains why everyone else has V3i’s…
Special note, though, must go to Claire Bennett who, as well as nicking Wolverine’s power of regeneration, uses a not-seen-as-much-in-the-UK Sidekick (a Sidekick II, to be precise). Mind you, I’m prepared to forgive her anything, since… well, it’s Hayden Panettiere, isn’t it, no other reason is needed!!
So, there you go. A mixed bag of mobiles, from good to bad. But who cares? IT’S HEROES!!! IT’S THE BEST THING ON TELLY!!!
