I’m sure many people have seen (and love) Doctor Who. I’m equally sure that many people have seen its grown-up, swaggering offspring Torchwood (that’s on after the watershed, so it’s allowed to drink, smoke and use naughty words). However, that’s not why we’re here, because on top of having aliens, violence, buckets of blood and sweariness, it’s also a veritable smorgasbord of mobile phones.
Unfortunately, they’re all either 1) old, or 2) rubbish.
Observe, if you will, last week’s episode, “Something Borrowed”, in a scene that demanded lots of people try to make a phone call, only to find their network is down (well, blocked, actually, to stop them spreading the news of an alien attack). Pay particular note to what mobile phone Gwen’s future father-in-law is using. Motorola KRZR. Not particularly high-end (although, of course, that was mitigated somewhat by the episode having a chainsaw and a reeeeeeeally big gun in it).
Ok, fair enough, he’s not a major character so we’ll let him off. But how about the main cast? Weeeeeeeeeeeell, this is where you get a sense of the big time gap between the BBC filming the series, and actually broadcasting it. In other words, they would have filmed it around last summer, some time. Which means N95’s. Like, lots of them. And not the Nokia N95 8Gb, because that came out after they’d filmed the series.
Please let them upgrade to the Nokia N96, next series… Oh, and if you’re reading this, BBC, more storylines with Toshiko (Naoko Mori), please!
Whaaaaat? If women can go all gooey-eyed over John Barrowman, I can fancy Naoko Mori…

Torchwood is rubbish. You wann watch a proper programme mate, like Reaper. I’ll have a look and let you know what phones are featured
