We’ve been offering customers a chance to win an iPod when they leave a review of their phone on MobileShop.com.

And to prove that this is a genuine competition – we’re pleased to announce the second winner. And the winner… is… Sophie Phillips!

Sophie won the iPod after reviewing her Samsung Genio Slide – awarding it a seven out of ten.

When told that she was going to be the proud owner of a brand new iPod, Sophie said was very happy but very shocked.

The competition is still running with winners being picked monthly. All you have to do is literally write a review for a phone, rate it out of ten, include your name and address, and then wait to see if your luck’s in.

The first winner is a little shy so we can’t give you any details about him, other than he’s known as Mr Kershaw and that he earned his iPod by reviewing his pink Samsung c3050. (more…)

It is with absolute and great pleasure that I write this blog, now, to introduce a brand new member of the Mobileshop team, here. Everyone, please give a huge, warm welcome to our newest blogger, the wonderful, the effervescent TechnoLiz! TechnoLiz is destined to become the voice of reason around these here parts, since it’s blatantly obvious I could never do that job justice. Y’know, what with me being a rambling, phone-obsessed egomaniac…

So, what can we expect from m’new pal Lizzy? Well, for starters, you can expect reasonable, unbiased commentary. I think. Mind you, considering she’ll be writing alongside me, it’s going to be very easy for her to sound unbiased, she just needs to not be like me. Oh, and having read her first blog post already, and because she’s a girl (she said that, not me), expect things like, er, frocks. I will, however, fight to the last breath if she starts throwing scatter cushions about the blog, and lighting candles. We men don’t understand those things. Sorry.

Or, to put it another way, she’s the sensible one, I’m the metal one…

Soooooooo, everyone give a big welcome to our newest contributor, TechnoLiz, and I hope you enjoy her posts as much as I do. She uses phrases like ‘stream of consciousness’ with gay abandon, and she’s not afraid to wheel out a ‘wistfully’ here and there, so she’s alright in my book. And she used to work at Orange, so she really does know her stuff. Her first post is all about the HTC Desire (yes, we’re both dead excited about that phone), and how I was absolutely right in saying it would fly off shelves. Not that I’m claiming god-like prescience, or anything, but y’know, I did call it…

So, yes. Dead excited, me. It’s been ages since I had a sparring partner on this here blog. So make her feel welcome and keep your eyes peeled for more sensible counterpoints to my maniacal (but awesomely prescient) ramblings…

It needn’t be an essay but a sentence on what’s great or not so great about the mobile phone will help fellow customers decide whether their chosen handsets are for them. It also gives you a chance to show off how great your new phone is.

In a previous post TechnicalMarkus said: ”It couldn’t be easier, especially since there’s two options. First, go to any page on the main site, and look on the nav-strip-bar-thing on the left hand side of the page. See that bright green box? Click on that, and fill the form in, then your name goes in the hat. Alternatively, if you want a direct way to review a phone you’ve got (whether you’ve bought a Nokia 5800 or a Sony Ericsson Satio, or whatever), then go to that phone’s page, click on the review page and then (you guessed it), click on the honking great bright green box. Fill the form in, submit your review, and your name’ll go in the hat, too.

“No purchase necessary, and all that, and you just need to make sure you put a valid email address in, so we can actually get in touch with you when you win.”

So, roll up, roll up and get those reviews coming in, whether you’ve got a new, top-end, shiny, smartphone, or something that’s been out a while, like the Blackberry 8250 Curve or Samsung Tocco Lite.

Well, it is that time of year again, when we come together to celebrate the real meaning of this festive season. It’s Christmas, and we must always remember the important things, and remember what the real meaning of Christmas is.

And this year, the meaning of Christmas is ‘I FINALLY GOT AN X1 XPERIA! HAHAHAHAHAHA!‘

Oh, alright, it can be about peace and love, and families coming together too. So, as we all head home from work, to go for the big Christmas burn (which involves eating turkey until it comes out your ears, and enough sprouts to make a Force 10 hurricane), everybody here at Mobileshop wants to wish every single one of you out there the bestest, happiest and most funnestest (I may have made that word up…) Christmas in the history of christendom.

So, eat, drink, be merry, enjoy any new mobile phones you’ve got (which I plan to do, and so will me mam and dad, since they’re both getting new’ns), and make it a Chrimbo to remember. I’ll be back in the new year, and I might even stretch to a review of the X1 Xperia, if you’re good boys and girls. In the meantime, peace to all, and enjoy the big day!
