Nokia’s music subscription is going…

Ovi Music Unlimited is to be discontinued.

Since its release in 2008 Nokia’s subscription music service, originally called Comes With Music and renamed Ovi Music Unlimited just last year,  has dwindled and, whilst many of us were aware of its existence, it never really took off.

Nokia has decided to call time on Ovi Music Unlimited and is stopping all shipping of relevant devices as well as preventing users from renewing their subscriptions.

If you have bought a device running the service, but have not yet activated it, you will still be able to do so but will not be able to renew the service in 12-month’s time.

Nokia’s Comes With Music becomes Ovi Music Unlimited

Nokia is to rebrand its free music service Comes With Music as Ovi Music Unlimited in a bid to breathe new life into the service.

The decision follows failed attempts to compete with iTunes with its various Comes With Music ad campaigns. (more…)
