Last night watching the One Show it dawned on me that our trusty weather forecasters are just not getting the respect and awe they deserve these days.
For those who didn’t watch it, the incredibly funny Will Ferrell was on it and enjoyed a little bit of light-hearted ribbing of the show’s weatherman, whose name I can’t recall (says it all – where’s this generations Michael Fish, John Kettley or Francis Wilson?). And while we tittered and sniggered at home, the nameless weatherman looked annoyed to the point of sniffily asserting that he is a trained meteorologist.

HTC is still ruling the smartphone roost with demand for the HTC Desire HD and HTC Wildfire not slowing down as we enter the festive shopping period.
The Desire HD has been the most popular phone amongst customers looking to compare deals on MobileShop.com for the last three weeks. And despite being one of the highest spec phones on the market it’s available on some competitive tariffs starting at £25-a-month.
At the other end of the spectrum, HTC is targeting those on a tighter budget with the Wildfire, which is both smaller in price and size.

Another day and another Google Nexus Two / Samsung Galaxy S2 conundrum does the rounds – this time it’s fuelled by a tweet about the next-gen Samsung Galaxy.
The tweet by respected blogger and ‘mobile expert’ Eldar Murtazin, of Mobile Review, compares the “Galaxy 2 aka i9100” to the Sony Ericsson Anzu, which to be ultra confusing has also been referred to the Sony Ericsson Xperia X12.
The latest round of rumours and intrigue sparked by Murtazin’s tweeted titbit is strongly focused on the Samsung Galaxy 2, or Galaxy S2, or Galaxy S sequel, whatever you want to call it. Many are saying this is not, I repeat NOT, the Nexus Two, which I had claimed it may be last week. Read the rest of this entry »
The HTC Desire HD and HTC Wildfire remain the top two most popular phones with MobileShop.com customers.
And for those writing off Nokia and BlackBerry it may be worth noting their smartphones are also in demand with customers.
The Nokia N8 in black is in third place and BlackBerry has three phones in the top ten with the 8520 Curve, Torch and Bold 9700.
While the iPhone 4 remains a constant in the top five, the Samsung Galaxy S is on the slide and is now lingering in sixth place, indicating Samsung need to bring out an updated version of the Galaxy S and a solid Android mid-ranger if it’s to be amongst the top sellers in the run up to the festive season. It may be pricier and it may be bigger but the HTC Desire HD is trouncing the smartphone competition in the run up to Christmas.
The high definition smartphone is currently the most popular phone with customers comparing mobile phone deals with MobileShop.com.
HTC has managed to push high-end rivals such as the Nokia N8, Samsung Galaxy S and iPhone 4 into third, fourth and fifth place respectively.
As not only does the manufacturer have the number one phone with customers, it also has the second most sought after phone in the more modest HTC Wildfire. Read the rest of this entry »
The HTC Wildfire is the most popular phone with customers looking to compare mobile deals on MobileShop.com.
It’s seen off competition from its more powerful stablemates the HTC Desire HD (second most popular) and HTC Desire (eighth most popular), indicating that while people want a phone that packs the latest technology, they also want something affordable.
Pay Monthly deals for the HTC Wildfire start off at £13-a-month, compared to the tariffs for the HTC Desire HD that start at £23-a-month on Three.
Another affordable mid-ranger that seems to be a regular favourite with customers is the BlackBerry 8520 Curve, a former top spot holder and now number three in the list of the top ten most popular phones on MobileShop.com. Read the rest of this entry »

An all-star cast, a West End premier, cutting edge technology – The Commuter has it all. Well, alright an all-star B-list cast (Dev Patel aside), a premier in the West End and the Nokia N8 – The Commuter may not have it all after all… but it is an interesting proposition, being a film shot using just a camera phone.
You may remember MobileShop.com wrote about this a while back, as Nokia was running a competition to find two people to be extras in the film, which also stars Pamela Anderson for all of a minute. Well, it’s been shot and it’s here and it’s not half bad as far as low budget short films go. It does have the feel of a student film at times (a very well connected student’s film that is) but what can you expect …
Before I go on – if you want to cut to the chase you can view the film by scrolling down to the end of the blog. Read the rest of this entry »
The HTC Desire and Nokia N8 have swept their smartphone competition aside to enter the top five most popular phones chart on MobileShop.com.
The phones are only available on pre-order at the moment but that has not stopped them reaching third and fourth spots on the list.
Only the iPhone 4 16GB and BlackBerry 8520 Curve are more popular with customers.
Good value Pay Monthly deals are contributing to the staying power of the BlackBerry smartphone. Only the Samsung Tocco Lite has cheaper deals in our top ten. Read the rest of this entry »
