The HTC Scorpion was leaked a while back but nothing has been heard of the smartphone for some time – until it appeared on a compatibility list for a new game that is.
The smartphone, which is said to have a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, showed up on a list for Gameloft’s Let’s Golf !2 HD game.

Samsung Galaxy S owners can access Skype following a major update to the Android version of the Skype app.
However, Samsung Galaxy S smartphones will need to be updates to Android 2.2 (aka Froyo) for the update to be compatible with it.
This may frustrate Samsung Galaxy S owners who are still waiting for their network to roll out the update.
The update also allows people to store the Skype app on a device’s SD card to save room, but you need Android 2.2 to be running on your phone to do this as well.

LG has officially unveiled the Optimus 2X (formerly known as the LG Star) – and it will be the first smartphone to have a dual-core processor in the world.
The smartphone will launch with the Android 2.2 operating system and a dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 1GHz processor.
While it launches with Froyo it should get a Gingerbread update to Android 2.3 at some point.
The Optimus 2X also has an eight-megapixel camera, 1080p video recording and a HDMI outport to output HD video and DLNA compliant TVs can also play video off the phone wirelessly. Read the rest of this entry »
Europe’s first mobile TV hotspot is due to land on the Apple iPad and iPhone, meaning Apple-ites will be able to watch digital TV on the go.
The portable tizi device is a wireless form of mobile connectivity that streams data to your iPad or iPhone by acting as a TV hotspot.
Users have to download an app to their iPad or iPhone and use it in conjunction with the TV hotspot device to connect to the tizi wireless network and start watching their favourite digital channels.

The launch of the Sony Ericsson Yendo with Walkman has been delayed until February next year.
The eco-friendly touchscreen is part of the Greenheart family of phones and was planned to be the manufacturer’s springboard to reinvigorating the Walkman brand.
Eco-conscious music lovers who have been waiting since November to the get their hands on the Yendo will be disappointed.
The delay has been confirmed by Sony Ericsson representative Ben Padley, who told the Dutch site NieuweMobiel that the phone would now be released in February 2011. Read the rest of this entry »
Toshiba is reported to have denied rumours stating that it is going create LCD panels for the next generation Apple iPhone line-up.

It’s estimated that 76.9 billion games, news, social and entertainment apps will be downloaded by 2014.
And the surge in downloads will lead to global mobile apps revenues of $35billion (£23billion), according to US research firm International Data Corporation (IDC).
It says app developers have enjoyed a bumper year so far with 10.9 billion apps downloaded so far.
The advent of tablet devices is one for the reasons for the leap in downloads this year and it’s expected sales will boom even further as apps become available on even more devices.

Nokia is reportedly planning to release mobile devices running on dual-core processors with an overhauled Symbian operating system in 2011.
The news comes from the 2010 International Mobile Internet Conference where Nokia outlined its plans to challenge smartphone rivals next year.
An update to the Symbian platform early next year will bring more than 50 enhancements, including a new web browser user interface that will be more intuitive and support HTML 5.
Updates will follow from April onwards that will offer further improvements to the user interface including a more flexible homescreen and an “easier software update experience”. Read the rest of this entry »
O2 has started its roll-out of the Android 2.2 update for the Dell Streak.
The network tweeted a link to a page on the O2 Blog promoting the update at about 4.20pm.
The tweet reads: “The Dell Streak software rollout is starting now!”
Dell Streak owners on O2 are advised to go to the blog to find out more about activating the updates that are being sent to over the air.

The Carphone Warehouse caused a stir earlier today when it showed the Nexus S from Google as in stock – only for it to be changed back to out of stock pretty quickly.
The smartphone, which combines the might of Samsung and Google and runs on Android 2.3, is due to hit the shops on December 20.
Customers can pre-order it now on Pay-Monthly, Pay As You Go or handset only through Carphone Warehouse.
